My name is John Sproles and I began my journey of service to Henry County over 26 years ago. I have always had a passion for helping people, and becoming a Deputy Sheriff has given me that opportunity over and over again.

I am the owner and President of Sproles Corporation  (a multi-state design and church building company) and also the founder of Heartland Christian School in New Castle. I am a full-time Deputy Sheriff and a Henry County SWAT team operator. I have been married to my beautiful wife, Julie for over 26 years and we have four children, Evan, Katelyn, Brooklyn and Brayden.

I come from a family of service. My dad has served as a pastor for more than 50 years. My mother had a full-time job working in our home, keeping us kids on track in our schooling and taking care of other family commitments. My brother began serving families in funeral service at a local funeral home in 1989 and continues to serve our community at Sproles Family Funeral Home. Both of my sisters are nurses and my son, Evan, is an Indiana Conservation Law Enforcement Officer.

For many years, I have recognized and understood the value of regular physical exercise in order to stay in good, work-ready shape. I have enjoyed competing in bike racing and running events all over the state of Indiana. It is important for everyone to value and maintain a regular fitness conditioning routine, and all the more important for law enforcement officers to do the same. Someone once said “when you choose a career in law enforcement, you forfeit your right to be physically unfit”. Being in good physical shape also helps a person to better deal with job stress and to be in a better overall mood which in turn affects others in a positive manner. It is our job to protect and serve people, it is imperative that we be in a physical condition as such to do so.
